Sail TMT

TMT rebars are thernomechanically treated, higher and superior, plastic and elastic energy absording bars. They are used for construction in seismic zones and also in areas where the effect of the earthquake can be felt. SAIL TMT EQR rebars and wire rods are characterised by higher UTS/YS ratio due to which they are capable of absording more energy if loaded beyond yield point due to sudden loading as experienced during an earthquake, Tsunami etc. The desired UTS/YS ratio is 1.20 (minimum) for grade Fe 415 and 1.18 (minimum) for grade Fe 500. The elongation of EQR wire rod is also higher (20% minimum) for grade Fe 415 and 18% (minimum) for grade Fe 500.

SAIL TMT EQR bars are in full conformity with revised IS 1786-2008 grade D (ductile) specifications. In case of SAIL TMT EQR-500, the percentage elongation is further enhanced to minimum 18% with a guaranteed UTS/YS ratio of minimum 1.18%. These enhanced attributes enables the material to withstand sudden load absorption capacity which is encountered during earthquakes, cyclones, Tsunamis etc thus providing higher safety.
